Getting started as a Jobseeker via Career

Career provides users of the Swag app the opportunity to browse and apply for roles from a diverse range of organisations from the convenience of your mobile device.

Important

You need to set up your Career profile on the Swag Career website before downloading the application. Once you have created your Career profile, you can manage and apply for Career through the Swag app.

Alert

This article is only applicable to individuals who are currently unemployed. If you are currently employed by an organisation, please refer to Apply for and manage internal job opportunities with Career.

Get set up as a candidate

This will show you how to sign up for Career from the Swag Career site. You will need that log in for the Career account in the app. 

Create my Career profile
  1. Head to the Swag Jobs website and click Sign Up.
  2. Enter your details, such as your first and last name, email address, and location. 
  3. Once finished, click Sign Up.
  4. You will receive notice that a confirmation email has been sent.
  5. Go to your email account, locate the confirmation email and click Confirm email now link. 
  6. This takes you back to the Swag Jobs website. 
  7. Set your new password following the on screen instructions.
  8. Check and confirm the Swag Terms & Conditions.
  9. Click Track my applications and create account.
Download the Swag app
  1. Search Swag in the App Store for iPhone users, or in the Google Play Store for Android phone users, or click the following based on your device:

    iOS/iPhone
    Android

  2. Log into the app using the same login credentials created on the Career site and create a password.

Setting up your Resume

Resume set up
  1. Open the Swag app.
  2. Tap on Career. 
  3. Scroll across the top bar to tap on My Resume. Ensure that you upload a resume and cover letter, as well as optionally adding your work eligibility, education, experience and certifications, licences and role preferences into your Career profile.

  4. Tap the   Pencil button next to each section to complete your details.
  5. Tap on the   Pencil in the Personal Information section to complete your personal details.
  6. Tap Save.
  7. Tap on the + icon to complete your Education details. 
  8. Complete the relevant fields and tap Save.
  9. Tap on the + icon to complete your experience details.
  10. Complete your relevant experience details, and tap Save.
  11. Tap the Upload button to upload your resume.
  12. Tap the Upload button to upload your cover letter.
  13. Tap the   Pencil button to complete your Work Eligibility.
  14. Complete the relevant fields and tap Save.
Upload your resume to automatically complete your profile
  1. Open the Swag app.
  2. Tap on Career. 
  3. Select My Resume at the top of the page.
  4. Click the Upload your resume and we'll complete your profile button.

  5. Choose your resume.

    Helpful Hint

    You have two options:
    • Click your existing resume if you already have one on Swag and want to use it. Or;
    • Click the  button to upload a new resume.
  6. Click the Continue button.

    Helpful Hint

    After choosing a resume, you will see a banner saying "We are parsing your resume. Please wait..."

  7. Review your updated profile.
  8. Click the Save button.

Next, let's apply for a job

Apply for a job listing
  1. Open the Swag app.
  2. Tap on Career.
  3. Make sure Job Search is selected at the top of the page, or type in the search bar.

  4. Search by job title, city or country.
  5. You can select to Filter your results by the following:
  • Country
  • Industry
  • Work Type
  1. Select a job title.
  2. Tap Apply now.
  3. Complete the required details, check the Privacy Policy consent, and tap Submit application.

Helpful Hint

If you see a heart icon in the top right-hand side of the job listing, this means that the employer has saved your profile as an ideal candidate for the role.

Save a job listing
  1. Open the Swag app.
  2. Tap on Career.
  3. Tap Job Search at the top of the page.

  4. Search by job title and/or city or country.
  5. Select a job title.
  6. At the bottom-right, tap the bookmark icon to save the job.

Let's look at your profile overview

You can access your resume, upload and manage certifications and your job applications, all from the Swag app.

View my applied job applications
  1. Open the Swag app.
  2. Tap on Career.
  3. Tap Applications at the top of the page.

  4. The following page will display any jobs you have applied for, when you applied for the job and the current status of the application.
View my saved job listings
  1. Open the Swag app.
  2. Tap on Career.
  3. Tap Saved Jobs at the top of the page.

  4. Your saved or bookmarked jobs will appear in this tab.
Unsave a job listing
  1. Open the Swag app.
  2. Tap on Career.
  3. Tap Saved Jobs at the top of the page.

  4. Locate the saved job listing you wish to un-save.
  5. Tap the bookmark icon to remove it from the list of saved jobs.

Update my resume details
  1. Open the Swag app.
  2. Tap on Career.
  3. Tap My Resume at the top of the page.

  4. Tap the   pencil icon next to each section you would like to edit.
  5. Complete the following fields:
  • Summary
  • Personal information
  • Education
  • Work experience
  • Upload a new CV/resume
  • Upload a new cover letter
  • Work eligibility
Withdraw my job application
  1. Open the Swag app.
  2. Tap on Career.
  3. Tap on Applications.

  4. Navigate to the application you would like to withdraw from and tap on the bin icon.
  5. Tap Confirm to withdraw your application.

Manage your certifications and work eligibility

You can upload your work eligibility and certifications and manage them all from the one app, read below to learn how.

Add my work eligibility

You can upload your work eligibility and manage the documentation from your profile.

  1. Open the Swag app.
  2. Tap on Career.
  3. Tap on My Resume.

  4. Scroll down to the Work Eligibility Section
  5. Tap on the   pencil icon to edit the registered details.

  6. You are now asked "Are you an Australian / New Zealand citizen, or an Australian permanent resident?". This leads to two options.

  7. If you answer Yes, you will be asked to enter your passport and document details.
    • Passport number
    • Passport expiry date
    • Country of passport
    • Date of birth
  8. Tap Done. Then you will have your eligibility verified. Your eligibility is automatically shared with the hiring staff for the role.

  9. If you answer No, you are required to enter your passport and visa details, but you may need to upload further documentation too.

Manage my work eligibility
  1. Open the Swag app.
  2. Tap on the Career icon.
  3. Tap on My Resume.

  4. Scroll down to the Work Eligibility section.
  5. Tap on the   pencil icon to edit the registered details.
  6. From here you can change your current details, or, it will show a red expired sign if your current work eligibility is out of date.
  7. To update, tap Update.
  8. Enter your new documentation details:
    • Passport number
    • Passport expiry date
    • Country of passport
    • Date of birth
Add certifications
  1. Open the Swag app.
  2. Tap the Career icon.
  3. Select My Resume at the top of the page.

  4. Scroll down to the certifications section.
  5. Tap on the   plus sign to add a certificate.
  6. Fill in the following fields for the certificate you want to add.
    • Name.
    • Issue date.
    • Expiry date.
    • Certification type.
    • Certification state/territory.
    • Description.
    • Supporting documentation. 
  7. Tap the upload button to take a photo, upload a photo, or upload the certificate file.

  8. If you upload the wrong file accidentally, you can delete and retake it by tapping the   bin icon next to the file name.
  9. Tap Save.

  10. Repeat these steps to add more certificates
Manage my certifications
  1. Open the Swag app.
  2. Tap the Career icon.
  3. Select My Resume at the top of the page.

  4. Scroll down to the certifications section.
  5. Tap on the   pencil icon next to the certificate you want to edit.
  6. You can then change any of the fields you need to, including editing the supporting documentation.
  • Name.
  • Issue date.
  • Expiry date. (Or check There is no expiry date.)
  • Certification type.
  • Certification state/territory.
  • Description.
  • Supporting documentation.
  • To change the supporting documentation, tap on the bin icon next to it then choose to upload a new file.
  • When you have made all the changes you wish, tap Save.
