You can use Swag to apply for jobs you like. You only have to complete your Swag profile, and it will act as your universal application for open roles.

But did you know that completing your profile can make your job application stand out more? And that doing so can bring the job search to you?

Introducing SmartMatch: a feature that recommends candidates like you to hiring managers. When you toggle SmartMatch on the Swag app, it will scan your profile and suggest you as a top candidate for jobs that match your experience, preferences, and certifications.

What does SmartMatch do?

SmartMatch finds the best job candidate matches for roles in different companies.

It takes the data you give us on Swag. This includes your location, education, job experience, and preferences (e.g. work types, working hours).

SmartMatch also takes the criteria that organisations set for their jobs. This includes where the role is based, whether it is remote/hybrid/on-site; its work hours, and the experience needed for it.

Based on this information, we find the candidates that best meet their hiring criteria. Then, we suggest ‌top candidate matches to hiring managers who use the Employment Hero platform.

For candidates like you, this means that the more information you give us, the better we can find roles that fit you.

Making your application stand out

How do I make companies notice my application?

You can make your job application stand out by completing your profile and giving as much relevant information as you can.

This helps companies see what you have to offer. Completing your profile also lets SmartMatch find roles where you best fit the hiring criteria.

Think of SmartMatch as ticking off the checklists of open jobs on Swag. It can find the best roles for you the more checkboxes you tick off.

How do I build my profile on Swag?

You can update your profile on "Career."

Here are the simple steps to follow:

  1. Log into the Swag app.
  2. Tap on the Career button, which has a rocketship icon.
  3. Drag the bar at the top of your screen, and tap on the My Resume tab.
  4. Tap on the tab saying "Upload your resume and we will complete your profile."
  5. Tap on the small upload icon, which is the icon that has an arrow pointing upwards.
  6. Choose your resume file.
  7. Tap on the Continue button. You will see a message at the top saying "We are parsing your resume. Please wait..."
  8. When we have taken the data from your CV, you will see a notice at the top saying, "The following information will be populated to your profile."
  9. You can tap on the small pencil icon to edit your personal information and profile summary.
  10. For the other sections, you can tap on the three dots (ellipsis) then tap on either Edit or Delete.
  11. When you are done editing your profile, tap on the Save button.
  12. Tap on the Go to your profile button at the bottom of your screen to return to the My Resume tab.

After building your profile, you can now decide if you are going to make your profile public and use SmartMatch. To do this, go to the next tab in this article.

How do I turn on SmartMatch?

After building your profile, it is time to let the job search come to you. When you turn SmartMatch on, you let the Swag app share your profile with interested hiring managers. You also allow them to contact you through our platform.

To turn SmartMatch on, follow these easy steps:

  1. Log into the Swag app.
  2. Tap on the Career button, which has a rocketship icon.
  3. Drag the bar at the top of your screen, and tap on the My Resume tab.
  4. Tap on the three dots (ellipsis) beside your name.
  5. Tap on Profile visibility.
  6. Tap the toggle switch on for SmartMatch: Let Hiring Managers know I am looking!

You also have the option to tap on SmartMatch: AI generated insights. When you toggle the switch on for this feature, our integrated AI tool can tailor a profile summary for you. This summary will highlight your strengths and interests, and share them with potential employers.

How do I make my profile public?

You have the choice to make your profile public. When you do this, you allow the details of your profile to be visible to all EH users and non-users.

They will be able to see your full name, headlines, country, city, profile summary, job experience, education, certifications, and licences (only the licence title, not other details nor the licence attachment).

To make your profile public, follow these easy steps:

  1. Log into the Swag app.
  2. Tap on the Career button, which has a rocketship icon.
  3. Drag the bar at the top of your screen, and tap on the My Resume tab.
  4. Tap on the three dots (ellipsis) beside your name.
  5. Tap on Profile visibility.
  6. Tap the toggle switch on Make my profile public.

How do I tailor my job search?

You can update your job match criteria for SmartMatch on "Career."

Here are the simple steps to follow:

  1. Log into the Swag app.
  2. Tap on the Career button, which has a rocketship icon.
  3. Tap on the SmartMatch tab on the bar at the top of your screen.
  4. Tap on the Update match criteria button.
  5. Tell us your SmartMatch preferences:
    • The roles you are looking for.
    • Your location.
    • Your skills.
    • Your expected salary.
    • Job types you want (Full-time/Part-time/Casual).
    • Workplace type you want (Remote/Hybrid/On-site).
  6. Tap on the Find matches button.
How do I apply for jobs using SmartMatch?

You can apply for jobs using the Swag app or on the Swag Jobs Web Platform. Your account email is the same for these two.

Frequently asked questions

Does SmartMatch just automatically take my information?

No, we value your privacy. You have to toggle the SmartMatch switch on the Swag app to allow us to share your profile with hiring managers who use the Employment Hero platform.

Is it true that with SmartMatch, I do not have to fill in job applications over and over?

Yes, you only have to complete your Swag profile once, and it will serve as your application for the jobs you want to apply for. Of course, if there are changes, you have to update your profile.

But unlike with traditional job boards, you do not have to upload your CV over and over or type a cover letter multiple times.

You just have to make sure your Swag profile is up-to-date, and that is is. You can even just upload your CV and let Swag get the relevant information from it to update your profile for you.

What happens if I do not complete my profile?

Not completing your profile can limit what SmartMatch can do for you. We will not be able to know if you fit the criteria for open jobs, and we might not be able to suggest the best roles for you.

How will I know if companies notice me?

You will receive an immediate email if an organisation shortlists you for a job or adds you to a job listing. You will also receive an email about how many times your file has been viewed in the last week.

Additionally, if you have SMS notifications turned on, you will receive an SMS notification when a recruiter sends a direct message or an email to you, or has saved your Swag Jobs profile.
